Ruth and Andrew: A Cross Continental Love

On Saturday I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Ruth and Andrew on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Although the day got off to a bit of a late start, everything ended up to be gorgeous (even though I had to steal the bride and groom away from reception to finally get some portraits!). This wedding was quite unique--only days after tying the knot, this couple headed for the groom's native land of Australia to make their home. Needless to say, it was an emotional time for all the guests! The ceremony was a bit of a challenge as I wasn't allowed to use flash for any part of the ceremony and I had to stay in the very back of the room! Luckily, thanks to a 1600 ISO and a 300 mm lens, I was able to get the shots I needed. What a beautiful couple--they were a joy to photograph.

A Pianist and Her Greyhounds

Yesterday I had the joy of photographing Hilary, a concert pianist studying for her doctorate at Catholic University. We did a variety of poses for her head shot and website photo needs. She is amazing AND gorgeous! But the shoot was multi-purpose: Basel and Flo, Hilary's two rescue greyhounds needed their portraits taken. These dogs are amazingly photogenic...especially when you put them both together. Thankfully, they spent much of the shoot sleeping or lying on top of each other. Dog portraits and head shots: two firsts for me!
